Students learn about voting in preparation for Student Council Elections

Pupils in 5th and 6th classes learned all about the electoral process in a fascinating talk today.  Martin Lynch came to the combined classes and gave an illustrated talk on how the voting system works.  Martin held the full attention of his audience for the entirety of his talk.  How voting happens and how the count is done were fully explained by Martin.  He used practical examples to illustrate the ballot paper, the PR system, what happens on election day, the count and the declaration of elected candidates.  This is ideal preparation for our Student Council elections which will be taking place shortly.  The pupils were fully engaged in the session and posed some interesting questions at the end of the session.
